Gordon has been practicing law for over three decades. He is the founding lawyer of VanderLeek Law. His practice focuses on solving problems and educating in the areas of estate planning, estate administration and trust law. While his focus is on planning, Gordon also enjoys the process of resolving family disputes over guardianship and trusteeship when the family is not in agreement as to who will be the decision-maker for an incapacitated family member and settling conflicts regarding estates.
Gordon has handled routine court appearances at the Court of Queen’s Bench, special chambers hearings (that have ranged from half-day to multi-day with witnesses), and appeared at the Alberta Court of Appeal. He has presented and is a member of such organizations as the Canadian Bar Association, Wills & Trusts Section (where he serves on the executive board), Society of Trust and Estate Planners (“STEP”) and the Estate Planning Council of Calgary. He is a long-time member of the Chamber of Commerce both in London, Ontario (where he practiced for 18 years) and in Calgary, Alberta.
Gordon is the parent to 5 adopted children and 1 grandchild (would you like to see some pictures?). When he gets some time off, he enjoys hiking, golf, kayaking and camping with his wife, Annie.
